Post Number 100!

We have reached a milestone here at OC_Photography, post number 100! I hope you are happy with my blog's content and continue to vist. Heck, if you really like it tell a friend! Keep sending emails or posting comments and I will do my best to suit all request.

This photograph shows a World War I memorial to the brave souls from the Scottish city of Torrance who gave their life to protect our freedom. The country is filled with both WWI and WWII memorials like this along with an American Military Cemetery located near Cambridge. I plan to post several photos from the cemetery over the next few weeks so keep an eye out for them. Also watch out for photos from our trip to the Tatra Mountains coming soon!

Slow yet busy week

Although nothing seemed to happen last week I ended up being very busy. Running here, running there, I never had a chance to sit in front of the computer. Summer time is the slow season for teachers as well. Go figure.

In celebration of the release of Scottish reporter Alan Johnston here is another Scotland photo. It is not Lochgoil in Argyll where the Johnston's have their family home but another one from Loch Ness.

Double Wednesday

Alright, although I don't want to post frequently in a single day and then not again for several weeks I have decided to post another photo for this fine Wednesday. This photo is of Loch Ness in Scotland. Loch Ness is not the most beautiful loch nor is it the most historically relevant; it simply has a good PR agency. Inverness is located on the north tip of the loch and is certainly both beautiful and relevant and worth a visit.

While I was in Scotland I stayed at BazPackers in Inverness. BazPackers is a hostel located in the heart of the city a stone's throw from the castle. I met many really nice people there including two Canadan girls backpacking/working their way across Asia and Europe. Good luck making it home! I also met a really sweet Austrailian couple who make it their life project to live and adventure in new countries. They spent three months in a camper exploring northern Scotland for example. I was there for four days.

Another interesting person I met was a homeless woman/drifter who was there for the night. She took a fancy to me and offers were made but luckly my will-power overcame and I slept alone that night. But thats a story for another time...Hostels are always a good bet when seeking adventure.

Two lochs

More from Scotland.

The story stays the same

No matter where I have visited things are always the same. People want to be happy, to work, to be successful and provide for their loved ones. There is always the problem of apathy and pollution too. Not many seem to care about keeping the planet clean. Or maybe the few who don't care screw it up for the rest of us. This was taken in the Highlands of Scotland just north of Glasgow.

Isle of Skye

While in Inverness I rode across to the Isle of Skye. Its very beautiful and, I have been told, has wonder hiking trails. A nice Austrialian couple I met while staying at Bazpackers in Inverness told me that because of the rapidly changing weather Skye is best visited over several days. This way you can catch all the moods of the island and enjoy it to its fullest. Deep huh?
