Tough Times

I have been having problems with my computer lately and have been unable to prep any new pictures to post. The problem is more or less sorted but I am heading to England tomorrow so will not have any new post for the next two weeks. Sorry for the delay but be sure to come back in August and see the last of our American Adventure trip photos!

God Save the Queen

What better way to make a mockery of our respect for England and everything British than by turning the London Bridge into a landmark of excess and debauchery. Rather than a place of culture and understanding the London Bridge in Lake Havasu is a bridge under which the slogan "show yer tits" is lived out every holiday season. Okay, the police have cracked down in recent years and the real action is now at the sandbar, but when the ladies need to take a break and their guys need more beer/gas/drugs it's the London Bridge they look for and the resources to be had nearby. And lets not forget all of the Girls Gone Wild footage shot there.

In these photos we see people warming up for the season - testing their boats, pre-tanning, and trying out new bikini designs (see my 4th of July post below). These were taken durning April so although it was rather warm it wasn't summer and things hadn't kicked off just yet.

These boats are as much a indication of "small-penis-syndrome" as the dune buggies a few posts back. Not only do the boats cost at least fifty or sixty thousand dollars (or more) but you also need the 'pimp' rig to pull them as well. I'm sure some boat owners are independently wealthy but you have to ask yourself how many of these boats contributed to America's current credit crunch.

Cor blimey, govn’er

I always used to tease my British friends that America owned England and there is no truer example of that then the London Bridge in Lake Havasu, Arizona. It wasn't enough for Americans to own England in England, they actually wanted to bring a bit home to enjoy as well.

Brick by brick the bridge was shipped across the Atlantic to its eventual home in the sunny Arizona desert. The British are actually lucky the bridge is here, otherwise Americans wishing to see England might actually show up over there!

Here are a few more artistic photos. Above is a narrow stairway while the photo below is of the many sparrow nests under the bridge.

O.G. Graffiti

Near the River trailer there is an interesting archeological site know as the Blythe Intaglios. As Wikipedia says not much is know about them other than the fact that they are 'old'. "The figures are believed to be between 450 and 2,000 years old." That doen't really narrow it down much.

Here is my girlfriend standing in front of what looks to be a horse (although Wikipedia says mountain lion) as well as a nice little spiral. My dad is in the background making an intaglios of his own. He was going to go back and check in June if it was still there but I never received a follow-up report.

Here is one of the little plaques that explains whats what at the site. The picture above is the lower left figure. You can see the spiral clearly in the photo with my girlfriend above.

God Bless America

Happy 4th of July everyone. Heres to a country that doesn't care how much of a cunt you act like so long as you wrap it in an American flag.

Everyone Loves Watersports!

Here is my brother-in-law showing you all how its done.

Him starting off in the 'tumble-turn' position.

Here are the pilot and the cheering section.

And finally the boat and my sweetie (notice the palm tree in the background too).

I wanted to comment more on these photos but something else has come up. Euro 2008 is over and Spain earned a well deserved victory. They dominated most of the teams not least of all Germany in the final. For me this means that football season is over until the next Champion's League Final in May-ish of next year. I know there is regular season play but on basic Polish cable there is only the Polish League - thanks but no thanks.

Anyway, none of that is the point. The point of today's post is the hilarious, er, offensive, behavior of one of the Polish announcers on PolSat Television towards the end of the game. It was the usual set up, one guy does play by play while the other guy adds his two cents on various things such as usless statistics. The stats guy started laughing every time the Germans made a bad pass or otherwise gave up the ball. "Hahaha, silly Germans, you need a goal but you can not even pass to your teammates, hahahahah." Not just once but perhaps three or four times. And it was a cynical you-got-what-you-deserved type of laugh too.

Now, if my buddies and I are together and we start to take the piss out of each other (or the team on TV or whatever) thats okay. Its just us, and no one cares what we say or think, not even us. But when you have a National audience and are paid a shit load of money you should probably tone down the auttitude a bit. Reminds me of a South Park...okay, not this time but reall, where is the Excellence In Broadcasting these days?
