Photography 101


My photos are not the best in the world, in fact I have never published a single photo. But they are IMHO pretty good none the less. And I really only follow a few basic rules. 1) Interesting subject, 2) frame the picture nicely with either the subject centered or using the rule of thirds and 3) try to take sharp photos.

When shooting people it's important to not cut off hands, feet or arms and to avoid signs, trees, poles, whatever, from sticking ouf of the subjects head. Sounds pretty simple and I think the picture above represents the rules pretty well.


Unfortunately not every Tom, Dick, or Harry you ask on the street to take your one "Golden Memory" photo is interested in following rules...
